Bobbie grew up in the western district of Victoria and Warrnambool. He trained as a chef working in fine-dining restaurants both in Australia and the UK. His winemaking began at Wynn's Coonawarra Estate Winery in South Australia.
Bobbie traveled to the UK and Europe working as a chef in England and Scotland, whilst learning winemaking skills in Europe. Returning to Australia with friends who were from Murrumbateman, Bobbie instantly fell in love with the area. After leasing the Murrumbateman Winery Bobbie set out to rejuvenate the vines to produce the best grapes for his winemaking style and is now producing award-winning wines. The friendliness of locals and the close supportive community is what makes Murrumbateman a wonderful place to live and work.
Emily moved to Murrumbateman with her parents when she was younger. Her family liked the lifestyle opportunities, including the friendly atmosphere to bring up their children and the beautiful country landscape for their horses. With Emily’s passion and expertise for horses, it was natural to call Murrumbateman home, as it is known for its horse community and provides the benefits of being close to a city whilst enjoying a country lifestyle.
George and his family moved to Murrumbateman to take advantage of the country lifestyle. Due to Murrumbateman being a beautiful location with fertile soils and tree-lined corridors, it was the perfect home to establish their horse business to the equine enthusiasts within the region. Murrumbateman offers wide-open country space, whilst being in a central location between the city and country.
Murrumbateman Country Inn was the first hotel Dave and Chris visited and immediately loved the place. It has a great atmosphere, big open fires for the winter and large verandahs for the summer. The Murrumbateman Country Inn is family friendly and the hub of the local community. Dave and Chris are the friendly locals you would call family. Every child born within the pub family has a star with their name on it, to put on the Christmas tree.
It is the community spirit, which Dave and Chris love about Murrumbateman. When there is a good cause to raise money or a member of the community needs help, everyone pulls together.
